Our Street Libraries are run entirely by volunteers and the generosity of our community.
The idea is simple:

If you have a large number of books, or one of the Street Libraries is full, these organisations would love them.
UQ Alumni Book Fair
One of Brisbane’s biggest annual second-hand book sales, raising funds for UQ scholarships and research. They accept books year-round, along with magazines, vinyl records, CDs and DVDs.

Lifeline
Lifeline accepts good-quality books through many of its shops, donation bins and Bookfest collections. Your donations help fund crisis support services.

St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies)
Many Vinnies stores accept books in good condition. Contact your local store before dropping off large quantities.

All Salvos stores welcome quality second-hand books, supporting their community programs.

Become a library volunteer
Our Street Libraries are cared for by local volunteers.
Library monitors check on a nearby library every week or two, helping to:
- Keep books neat and organised;
- Report maintenance issues;
- Redistribute excess books between libraries when needed; and
- Welcome new neighbours into the project.
Small acts of kindness make a big difference.
It usually takes only a few minutes and is a wonderful way to support the community.
